Asia's Daily Activities

You can lift our bed and store stuff under it.  Between the base of the bed and the wall there is a tiny little tunnel that Asia loves.  She creeps in there and somehow manages to turn around.

She looks so sad, but she always goes under there.
Her shirt says "Go Green".  Too bad her parents run the A/C all day and leave the lights on.

Our bed connects to a window seat.  This is the perfect spot for Asia to keep an eye on the water.

Snuggling
Totally unrelated picture of a gigantic spider we found sneaking out of our front door.  We almost fell over each other trying to get out of it's way.  We let the door shut on the poor fellow.  Then we put an iphone there, so you can see the size in comparison.  Biggest spider I've ever seen in my house, ever!

Happy National Day ( and happy long weekend)

This weekend we celebrated a holiday near and dear to our heart, China's National Day.  The cool thing is we got Friday off of school.  Friday we went shopping, I bought a baby journal and Blair bought a heavy metal CD, then we ate at a tapas restaurant called Mes Amis.  Saturday, we bit the bullet and decided to finally trust a local dog groomer to cut our dog's hair.  Asia was looking ridiculous, kinda like an ewok off of Empire Strikes Back.  Now she is clean shaven and 3x smaller!  We grabbed some Thai food for lunch in Tai Wai, then headed home.  On Sunday, we went to church and then watched "Survivor".
Can you find Blair in the mall?

When our dog arrived in Hong Kong

It's been 2 months, but I wanted to post about when my dog, Asia first arrived in Hong Kong. It was such an exciting day for us. Blair and I arrived a few days before Asia, because Delta wouldn't allow her to fly on a weekend. Since she was required to be in the cargo area of the plane, we weren't sure the weather would be cool enough for her to fly. If it was too hot she would have to wait another month to come. After countless documents and a very expensive flight, the weather held out and Delta allowed her to fly. Her trip took over 24 hours! We had to pick her up at this separate area for cargo. It was a very noisy warehouse with forklifts and all we could think is "where is our dog??" We had to see 3 people in different parts of the building and then finally they brought her crate into the room. They had zip tied it shut, so Blair had to cut the door open. I can't describe how it felt to see her. Asia was so happy, but clearly exhausted. They had a vet check her out and put another microchip in her neck before we left. We tried to sneak her on a bus, but with the big crate they wouldn't allow it. We found a taxi and rode home together.
It's 8 weeks later and Asia has totally settled in. Instead of barking at squirrels, she barks at the people coming and going on our floor or she'll stare out our window at the water. We walk her 3-4 times a day, which was an adjustment for us. It was so much easier to just let her out in the backyard. With Blair working from home, she gets plenty of attention. I know a lot of you prayed for my dog to make it here safely. It meant the world to us. Thank you!

Fourth of July

Linda and Larry hosted a pool party at their house for the Fourth of July. They have a beautiful pool and patio. Asia sported her special dress for the event. She's very patriotic.

14 days til puppy bliss

June 12th we'll start our 24 hour journey home.

I don't think I've ever been so anxious to get home. 10 months without my dog, family, friends, Chick-fil-a, Taco Bell, Target, a car, the beach..... to name a few. We are counting down the days. No offense to HK, but we just miss the little things after being away so long. It's really hard not to check out at work. It's such a challenge to stay motivated. I can't wait to see everyone!
